About
McCrae
McCrae is a small, quiet bayside village between Dromana and Rosebud, with a calm beach out front, a historic lighthouse in the middle and a handful of cafes across the road.
There isn't much more to it, and that's the charm: park the car, grab a coffee and spend the day on the sand.
Featured Spot
McCrae Lighthouse
A heritage-listed landmark built in 1883 to guide ships up the bay. It no longer operates, but it still stands guard beside the beach, with a small park, barbecues and a playground with a lighthouse of its own at its base.
Beaches
The foreshore
A long, calm stretch of Port Phillip Bay running from the Anthony's Nose headland to Rosebud, with white sand, colourful boat sheds and the Bay Trail beside it. Anthony's Nose is a popular fishing spot, and camping runs along the foreshore in the warmer months.
Eat & Drink
A small cluster of cafes faces the lighthouse across Point Nepean Road, from the Lighthouse Cafe's Thai to Merchant & Maker, Alatonero and Blue Bay Cafe, handy for coffee, lunch and a slice of cake after the beach.
Accommodation
Stays here are mostly holiday houses near the beach, plus foreshore camping in the warmer months, with more to choose from in nearby Rosebud and Dromana.
